About Patterson’s Pub

A Bit of Pub History

Patterson’s Pub brings a bit of Ireland to the Northern California Coast.

If you want to define a quintessential Irish pub, you’ll find it hard to find a better example than Patterson’s Pub in the historic village of Mendocino.

For over three decades we’ve been part of the landscape in Mendocino and today we continue to be the favorite “watering hole” of both locals and visitors alike.

We’re known for our good food, good drink and good people but most of all for the warmth of our welcome and the sense of fun and conviviality.

The historic pub building dates back to 1866 when it was originally the rectory for St Anthony’s Catholic Church. So all or our spirits are blessed and our wines are sanctified and the beers have been exorcised.

A Review by an Irishman

On my list of favorite Irish Pubs, granted I am Chicago Irish meaning my Irish family has been in Chicago since the mid to late 1800’s after fleeing the famine. Basically we built Chicagos streets, patrolled them and put the fires of the houses we built.

We built pubs, drank in them and then died and went across the street for the funeral.

All of this history comes to mind when I enter an Irish pub that feels legit.

Located in a vintage seaside cottage type house it really feels authentic not so much in that it belongs in Ireland as it fits perfectly in Mendocino, which has almost the same climate as the varying coasts of Ireland.

I immediately felt at ease in this pub, I recommend it to any Irish Pub enthusiast.
